Gideon Javier, late former Antique Governor Evelio Javier's son, bared government leaders of the province are forcing mayors to join a candidate's campaign rally, in a Facebook post uploaded on Feb. 18.
On Feb. 24, a presidential candidate will be heading to the province of Antique for a campaign rally where top government officials in the province will be attending as stated in Javier's post.
Moreover, Javier mentioned that government heads are not legally allowed to attend non-government functions.
On Feb. 16, Vice President Leni Robredo visited Antique as a part of her campaign trail where Antiqueños warmly welcomed her; however government officials were very "thin on the ground".
Robredo's visit in Antique is not a government event, thus, is not a part of her business as the county's vice president and officials not forced to attend.
Yet government leaders of Antique are pushing their municipal mayors to attend this presidentiable's campaign rally.
"Is this person a government official? Is this an official government function? I don't think so. As far as I know he has been unemployed since forever." Gideon wrote.
