While many Filipinos are opting to be vaccinated, the President emphasized in his pre-recorded Talk to the People aired on Monday, Feb. 14, that there are still individuals who refuse to take Covid-19 vaccines.
"Don't make yourself, your children, and your neighbors suffer one day by infecting them when you are sick," Duterte said, as he tried to urge those who are hesitant to get vaccinated. “That's why I'm almost always down on my knees begging you to get vaccinated so we can avoid perdition."
He urged the residents in various locations who are still behind on their vaccination efforts to take advantage of the free vaccinations in their area.
Moreover, the President emphasized the importance of public minimum health standards in the reduction of Covid-19 infections in the country apart from the massive vaccination drives.
“We have not yet hit herd immunity. The COVID is here and it can afflict everybody. No one is still safe. We have to avoid it, wear a mask and listen to what the government says," he said.
“I am pleading to you, on behalf of the government, to hopefully end this COVID and the only way to do so is for most, if not all, Filipinos to get vaccinated,” Duterte continued.
Furthermore, Duterte expressed that one of the things that would make him happy when he bows out of office is to see that the majority of Filipinos become fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.
The government is currently working to fully vaccinate 77 million adults against COVID-19 by the end of the first quarter of this year in order to assure voter safety in the 2022 elections.
