Aklanons prove once again that they are pro-Leni governance. This time, through the youth.
In a survey conducted by ExplainED PH - Aklan last Nov. 26 to Dec. 31, Vice President Leni Robredo dominated the 425 respondents with 61.2% of which favoring the presidential aspirant.
Second to Robredo is controversial candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who managed to get 22.1% of the votes.
Farther down is Isko Moreno Domagoso, who had 3.8%, Manny Pacquiao and withdrawn candidate Bong Go with 0.7% apiece, Ping Lacson, Norberto Gonzales, and Leody de Guzman with 0.2% each.
With that said, 10.6% of the 425 respondents remain undecided regarding the presidential race.
In retrospect, Robredo won by a wide margin in the 2016 Vice Presidential race in Aklan, having 55.5% of the votes, defeating Marcos Jr., who had 19.4%, equating to a 94,831 vote margin.
Meanwhile, Vice presidential aspirant and Robredo's running mate Kiko Pangilinan also topped the youth survey.
Robredo’s tandem candidate garnered 43.1% votes, enjoying a solid lead against Sara Duterte-Carpio, who has 23.1% of the total.
Most of the Aklanon youth remain uncertain of their bet, as the survey data shows 20.5% are still undecided.
Furthermore, the two favorites dominated the other three, as Tito Sotto garners 7.3%, Willie Ong 5.2%, and Walden Bello 0.7% of the total votes.
The tandem topping the survey can be correlated with the 2016 national elections that witnessed the Roxas-Robredo dominance in the province.
In order to arrive at these results, the survey was conducted through Google Forms and was sent to multiple colleges and organizations such as the SK Federation of Aklan to maximize reach.
