Vice President Leni Robredo kicks off her presidential campaign on the island of Boracay by first visiting the Ati Community at Sitio Lugutan, Brgy. Manocmanoc, Feb. 16.
During the campaign, Robredo emphasized her intention to protect the rights of the indigenous communities along with platforms that pursue tourism and economic development efforts on the island.

The presidentiable recently backed Boracay residents who opposed the creation of the Boracay Island Development Authority (BIDA) bill, that aims to make the island a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) with powers to lease and sell the real property.
Robredo also conveyed gratitude to the Daughters of Charity Sisters organization for their support and assistance to the Ati Community in Boracay.
On Feb. 15, individuals belonging to Muslim and Ati communities of the island showed support to the candidate by attending the Leni-Kiko campaign event held at Aklan Catholic College Annex Gym, Kalibo, Aklan.
