Aklan under Alert Level 3 on Jan. 14–31

Aklan will be placed under Alert Level 3 starting January 14 until 31 due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the country, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) said.


The province is among the 28 additional areas raised to Alert Level 3, together with three other provinces in Western Visayas: Bacolod City in Negros Occidental, Capiz, and Antique, as stated in Resolution No. 156-C issued by the IATF.


Alert Level 3 guidelines


Intrazonal and interzonal traveling in Alert Level 3 areas are allowed for work purposes and obtaining essential goods and services. 


The IATF also allows individual outdoor exercising for all ages regardless of comorbidities or vaccination status, but contact sports activities are prohibited. 


Moreover, entertainment establishments such as funfairs/peryas, playgrounds, karaoke bars, clubs casinos, cockfighting/operation of cockpits, and lottery/betting shops are also prohibited to operate. 


Gathering in residences with individuals not belonging to the same household is also not allowed for the time being.


On the other hand, operation of establishments at a maximum of 30% indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals only and 50% outdoor venue capacity are allowed as long as all workers and employees of these establishments are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 


This is also applicable to permitted venues for events such as meetings, conferences, parties, funerals, and the like; recreational venues such as internet cafes, amusement arcades, swimming pools, cinemas and the like; dine-in services in food preparation establishments, personal care establishments, religious gatherings, and tourist attractions.



Other areas under Alert Level 3


In Luzon, 16 areas are also under Alert Level 3 which includes Benguet, Kalinga, and Abra in the Cordillera Administrative Region; La Union, Ilocos Norte, and Pangasinan in Region 1; Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, and Quirino in Region 2; Nueva Ecija and Tarlac in Region 3; Quezon Province in Region 4A; Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro in Region 4B; and Camarines Sur and Albay in Region 5.


Cebu and Mandaue City in Region 7 and Tacloban in Region 8 in Visayas are also placed under the same Alert Level.


In Mindanao, the IATF included five areas namely Cagayan de Oro City in Region 10; Davao City in Region 11; Butuan City and Agusan del Sur in the Caraga Administrative Region; and Cotabato City in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.


Meanwhile, acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles mentioned the possibility of raising the status of Metro Manila to Alert Level 4 once the state of healthcare in the region reaches ‘critical level’ when utilization is over 70 percent.
