Supporters of presidential aspirant Leni Robredo, along with Leni-Kiko volunteers, from several towns in Aklan joined forces as they participated in the nationwide "Palugaw ni Leni" and conducted other related activities on Saturday, Nov. 20.
In the capital town of Aklan, a youth-led organization launched a beach clean-up drive and “palugaw” at Lambingan Beach, Pook, Kalibo with the goal of conserving the environment and aiding Aklanons residing near the coastal area.
The feeding activity was extended in Andagao, Kalibo serving over 500 citizens in the community. 150 tricycle drivers, strollers, and sales women were also served with snacks at Carmen Hotel.
Meanwhile, volunteers from Makato have shown their support by distributing rice porridge and free blood pressure monitoring to the residents. Nabasnons for Leni have also flocked to volunteer, where 215 servings of rice porridge were distributed.
In Malay, supporters served hot meals and “pink snacks” in nine barangays while 12 sitios in Boracay also participated in the activity.
Moreover, Altavasnons for Leni, in partnership with Aklanon Doctors for Leni-Kiko on Nov. 21, offered free consultations, lectures and video presentations on managing diabetes and its complications, as well as a feeding activity for the residents of the municipality.
“Kahit sa ano mang sitwasyon, nawa’y baunin natin ang mga bilin ni VP Leni na huwag magsasawang magpakita ng pagmamahal at tumulong sa kapwa sa kahit anong paraan,” Youth for Leni-Kiko Aklan wrote on a Facebook post.
The volunteer-driven nationwide “LugawOne” feeding program with volunteers from over 62 provinces, was initiated to reach out to Filipinos in the grassroots community and to help spread awareness regarding the tandem of Robredo and her running mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
