'IT'S BEAUTIFUL'

 by Jayrha Yap

Actress Liza Soberano expressed her gratitude by retweeting a tweet featuring the “Kusot Art'' of Mark Fenandez Raet, an Aklanon artist from Bakhaw Norte.

The actress was grateful after seeing a unique art medium known as Kusot art—a way of creating a painting with the use of wood dust, charcoal, and dried leaves.

Raet started making Kusot art last June 2020, while in the middle of the lockdown after getting inspired by the artworks he saw on Facebook. The materials he uses are all from his household. The sawdust comes from shavings of wood from the furniture his father makes. He also uses dried banana leaves, crushed charcoal, and ashes of burnt wood.

Prior to his Liza Soberano-inspired "Kusot art," celebrities he used as inspiration for his previous artworks have lauded him for his craftsmanship.
